Iceland.

This image is taken at Svartifoss in Iceland.  An impressive gully leads to a wall of basalt lava columns, from where these falls drop.  It is a unique view, and very different from most waterfalls I have photographed to date. 

I took this rather simple composition, creating a mood of tranquillity, and a dream like atmosphere.  Clouds were moving very fast in the sky above me.  So, by taking a long exposure I managed to create the effects of moving clouds.  I used a darkening filter to ensure I would not overexpose the image.  It is one of my favourite filters as it allows you to take long exposures during day-time, which often results into surreal effects. 

I won’t easily forget this awe-inspiring location.
