Iceland.

This image is taken at Svartifoss in Iceland.  An impressive gully leads to a wall of basalt lava columns, from where these falls drop.  It is a unique view, and very different from most waterfalls I have photographed to date.  And even though the waterfall is called “Svartifoss” – which means “Black Falls” – this gully is teeming with colors.  I had to wait for the right moment, when that light balance would be perfect enough to capture all the colors.  It was a task that required lots of patience and I ended up spending several hours in this gully.  But then, there are worse places to spend an afternoon…  I enjoyed every minute of it.
