Gullfoss, Iceland.

This image is taken at Gullfoss, one of the most ferocious waterfalls in Iceland.  After photographing the waterfall itself; I hiked up river, looking for a more peaceful composition.

This image resembles a painting.  The pink clouds in the sky were moving slowly.  And I tried capturing a tranquil mood.  I had to try different exposures to capture the right amount of movement in the river’s flowing water. 

I must admit that although this scene looks serene; it was everything but that.  I had setup my tripod along an outlet stretching into this wild river.  It gave me a unique vantage point, but it was also rather dangerous.  Should I fall into the river, I would simply not survive.  It was wild and ferocious, with Gullfoss – a massive waterfall – 100 meters downstream.
