Death Valley, California.

On this early autumn day, I was hiking through the dunes of Death Valley in California. I was surrounded by dunes. I could only see towering dunes around me, and blue sky when looking up. Being exhausted from the tiring hike, I took a break. I was carefully monitoring my water supply as I still had a few hours to go.

I started photographing the dunes around me. And although at first it looks like if nothing could possibly live here, I noticed tiny animal steps in the sand. A small voyager passed here not too long ago. I decided to use this path of steps as a foreground subject, giving the image a sense of perspective. I often think back at that morning. When I do, I can still feel the solitude and tranquillity. It’s a wonderful feeling. And it’s what keeps me going to discover those new places, to take that unique photograph.
