About Peccatorum

The Big Island, Hawaii.

This is Rainbow Falls, on the Big Island in Hawaii. These falls end up in a gully, surrounded by lush green forest.

There was a heavy downpour of rain hours before I took this image. So these falls went into overdrive. It was still overcast, and leaves were still wet. Which made shooting these falls ideal. It enhanced the color saturation of the surrounding forest and leaves. Everything turned out green and alive.

It somehow seems like if the water is trapped in this gully, although that is obviously an illusion. An outlet, not visible in this image, carries the water further downstream. This oval shaped gully somehow reminded me of an article I read a while back, where sinners were banished into a natural pit, to be locked up for eternity. Could this have been that place?
