Uluru, Red Centre, Australia.

I remember when I was scouting for a composition for this photograph. It was a late afternoon. I knew from what angle the sun would be rising the morning after. And I was wading through the short desert bushes, looking for something different. Something that I could use as a foreground subject. Having an interesting foreground subject, is crucial to capturing a strong photograph. However, in a desert environment that’s not a simple task. Most bushes looked boring. Suddenly I came across this lush, bright green patch of grass. To this day I do not know what made this grass different from the rest. It must be some natural phenomena that I am not familiar with.

The next challenge would be to find it back. I was in the middle of the desert and would return the morning after, long before sunrise, in complete darkness. I GPS tagged this exact spot and made sure I would find it back.

I returned the morning after in complete darkness. Setup my camera, and was blessed with an amazing sunrise. The colors of Uluru and the sky were just unbelievable. And my green patch of grass in the foreground, was the cherry on the cake!
