The Big Island, Hawaii.

I photographed this fig tree in Hawaii on the Big Island. While cruising around the island, during a lunch break, I came across this magnificent tree. Usually fig trees are made out of a maze of roots and branches. And although very spectacular, it’s difficult to capture a striking composition. But this one just fit the bill and I felt blessed coming across it.

I had to play around with different exposure settings to get the light balance between the background and foreground just right. I love how the roots guide you into the image.
