Fiordland National Park, South Island of New Zealand.

Fiordland National Park in the south-western tip of New Zealand‘s South Island.  It is a wild place. A large and extremely inaccessible area. It is also one of the wettest places on earth. I spent quite a while exploring the area and I have experienced nothing but extreme amounts of rain.

Normally that would seriously spoil the photographic ambitions of my trip. However, this particular morning it transformed the towering cliffs of the fiords into a spectacle of improvised waterfalls. Water came down the cliffs in biblical proportions.  Just hours before there were no waterfalls to be spotted.  Now I could not keep track of them.  The sound, of the thundering falls that surrounded me, was amazing and made me feel small and insignificant in the shadow of Mother Nature.  This was a sight I had never seen before.  Absolutely magnificent!
