About Dove Lake
Cradle Mountain National Park, Tasmania.
January 2011. 2 weeks into my 5 week trip to Tasmania I injured my left knee. A rough walk on the Tasman Peninsula injured my patellar tendon. I still managed to visit Dove Lake. Not being able to walk, and having 3 days to kill before being able to head back to Melbourne, I sat near a view point at Dove Lake for 9 hours. I enjoyed every minute of this peaceful place. It is a picturesque lake in a pristine environment.
Being here for 9 hours allowed me to witness lighting conditions change from beautiful blue skies to soft twilight. Being one of the wettest places on earth, it’s very rare that you have blue skies. About 20 minutes before sunset conditions were perfect! Beautiful soft light. The top of Cradle Mountain was still sunlit and wind levels dropped, creating a gorgeous mirrored image.
I count myself very lucky being able to capture this image.
