Grampians NP, Victoria, Australia.

I spent 4 days in Grampians National Park trying to photograph some of the more remote and unknown waterfalls. I wasn’t happy with my results during the first couple of days. Conditions just weren’t right. It’s only on my last day that I came across this gorgeous waterfall, hidden deep in a canyon.

By the time I reached it, it was almost dark, and I had no choice but to force my camera into a 10 minute exposure. Exposing for many minutes can be risky as the chance of under -or overexposing your image significantly increases. I was thrilled with the result of this image. It is as if a ‘waterspirit’ was exposed, a spirit slowly making its way up the canyon.

I setup my 2 cameras on a tripod.  With my digital camera I captured a standard 4×3 format photograph, which can also be viewed in the photography gallery.  My ultimate goal was to photograph these falls with my Linhof Technorama, a medium format film camera.  I captured this panoramic frame, displaying immense details with highly saturated colors, which make this scene come to life.
