About Aoraki
New Zealand, South Island.
Aoraki is the Mãori name for Mount Cook, New Zealand’s highest mountain. It translates as ‘Cloud Piercer’. Aoraki’s peak is known for being visible only 1 out of 4 days due to the constant cloud cover. This image was taken along the hike to Mount Cook’s base camp. Although you can see the clouds moving in fast, I was blessed with this moment of blue sky and witnessed the majestic ‘Cloud Piercer’.
