Zion National Park, Utah

Twilight is my favourite time to photograph. Usually, when the sun has set, the action for me begins. On this cold autumn night I was standing along the Virgin River in Zion National Park in Utah. I had hiked for most of the day and was looking forward to a break and campfire dinner. My gut feel told me I hadn’t seen the best of the day yet. So I waited around, keeping my frozen fingers crossed for a magical moment. As the light began to soften after sunset, I realized this would be a magical twilight. Indeed, the light began to dance and the majestic cliffs in the background took on a delightful glow.

A golden rule for a landscape photographer; never return back to base too early, with a bit of luck I promise you’ll be amazed.
