Yosemite Valley in California is simply a must see. It is a glacial valley, carved by the Merced River. The tall granite cliffs and domes are unlike any other place on earth. This place is picture-perfect!

However, for a photographer it can be quite a challenge to photograph this valley during early mornings or late afternoons. My images are not digitally enhanced, which means that I need to work with natural light. Capturing a shaded valley, with a new day’s first light in the background, is a technical challenge. After many early morning attempts I managed to capture this image with beautifully balanced light in the background. I photographed ‘Valley Guardians’ during a short window of opportunity, when light conditions were just top notch and in perfect balance. This lasted no longer than 4 minutes.
