About The Blue Kingdom
Jökulsárlón Glacier, Iceland.
Iceland has some of the most breathtaking views in the world. It is an island compressed with the best of what Mother Nature has to offer. It is a rugged place. It is harsh and many places are inaccessible, or very difficult to get to. But it is spectacular in every sense. It is one of those places where you can capture images which seem out of this world. As if you are photographing on a different planet.
I took this photograph on a beach where large lumps of ice wash ashore. These lumps of ice would have been disconnected from the nearby glacier not too long ago. It was the middle of the night when I captured this photograph. And although this image looks rather peaceful, it was a rough night. It was cold, and waves were crashing onto the beach. It took a large amount of patience to capture this. Every chunk of ice had to be motionless, in order to avoid blurriness. Easy request… not really! There was little color in the sky. Normally, I would not even take out my camera with this type of lighting. However, on this particular night, it added to the atmosphere I was trying to capture. That of a Blue Kingdom.
