Finding a strong composition in forests is a serious challenge. As beautiful and inspiring as forests are, it’s difficult to find striking lines or patterns, which make or break an image. I spent several weeks searching for a suitable spot which allowed me to capture this image which I had pre-visualized in my mind. It involved overcoming difficult and steep terrain through dense forest. The place was filled with leeches, eager to make their way up to my bare skin.

These Mountain Ash trees rank among the highest trees in the world. In this image they stand tall, straight and proud, demanding respect and making it obvious that they are the ‘Lords of the Forest’.
