If somebody were to ask me to list the images that took most effort to take, Forgotten Boathouse is definitely high on that list. No less then 12 separate trips to this hidden treasure in the Dandenong Ranges. I envisaged capturing it when autumn colors were at their best. This boathouse is located in a forested area with light beaming through the forest at unpredictable angles. Strong highlights or shadow areas can be destructive for an image, so I needed that correct light balance to accentuate those beautiful colors, without any extreme highlights or lowlights.

I became pretty desperate after my eight attempts as now leaves and autumn colors were quickly disappearing. It looked like I might have to wait for a full year before I could capture this image the way I had intended it to. Several attempts later however, I struck gold, with a glamorous sunlight highlighting reflections in the pond, as well as parts of the pathway.
