“While visiting some of the remote islands of the Cook Islands, I was saddened to see how some parts of the coral reefs surrounding the islands were destroyed. The coral reefs are an important source of food for local islanders. ‘Kia Orana’ is a Maori greeting and translates to “May you live on”. Early on this particular morning all the elements of nature were just perfect for this stunning shot. The water in the lagoon was motionless. It was low tide so the top of the reef was visible. A 30 second break in the overcast sky lit up this scene making it one of the best images of my 9 days of photographing the Cook Islands. A breathtaking 30 seconds I won’t forget. |
